UV LEDs light sources allow digital printers to gel or freeze UV ink droplets quickly before they have time to spread out (referred to as drop or dot gain). The process of freezing ink droplets between print heads is called pinning.

In the digital printing area, UV curable inkjet inks are a perfect fit for printing on thick polymeric substrates as well as printing directly onto pre-shaped objects such as bottles, tubes or cups.

While UV-curable inks boast excellent adhesion properties, a primer still comes in useful when printing on particular substrates. Some substrates are notoriously difficult to make ink adhere too. Take for example metal, glass, ceramics or polypropylene, which can be used for numerous applications, including decorative printing, direct-to-shape printing, or marking & coding. To ensure superior bonding of UV-curable inkjet inks to challenging media, dedicated digital primers can save the day.
