Kavalan goes big in the USA with Media One partnership

Kavalan’s PVC-free wide format materials for indoor, outdoor, and interior design applications will be distributed throughout the USA by the California-based large format imaging specialist, Media One.

Leading manufacturer of low environmental impact PVC-free wide format materials, Kavalan, has signed its first US distribution partnership with the leading large format imaging specialist at Media One. With an established network of Media One warehouses nationwide, this puts PVC-free banner materials at the fingertips of every large format print specialist in the United States.

The PVC-free Kavalan range includes a lightweight coated banner material suitable for indoor and outdoor applications with a brilliant white banner material ideal for lightboxes and other backlit applications, a double-sided block-out textile material, a mesh banner material and a coated wall covering material. All Kavalan products have completed certified Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) by Swiss based SGS, the world’s leading independent testing and certification body, confirming their superior low impact eco-performance over traditional PVC banner and textile signage materials.

According to Jason Bartusick, Chief Executive Officer for Media One: “We first encountered Kavalan back in 2018, but didn’t believe it was the right time yet to introduce sustainable wide format materials to the US market. Since then though, we’ve monitored market demand and we now have a strong sense that US businesses are ready and eager to step up their environmental responsibility. What is really exciting is that this has come sooner than we’d anticipated. More and more printers across the US are now asking for eco-friendly materials that are not simply “greenwashed”, so now feels like the perfect time to embark on this partnership with Kavalan.”

Based in Orange County, California, Media One is a one-stop supplier of large and grand format printing equipment, materials, and consumables with a reputation for customer service that is backed by in-depth market knowledge and decades of technical experience. Drawing on this expertise, Media One conducted extensive research and testing to ensure that Kavalan products would be the right fit for the work its customers carry out.

Bartusick continues: “We really like that the reduction in environmental impact possible with Kavalan is quantifiable. It’s very transparent, particularly with the wealth of data on the Eco Calculator and the well communicated examples that help us to tell the story.”

Kavalan’s proprietary Eco Calculator helps businesses to quantify the environmental savings that can be achieved using Kavalan PVC-free materials. Its calculations draw on independently verified LCA data to illustrate reductions including greenhouse gas emissions, freshwater consumption, and fine particulate matter formation.

Nova Abbott, Head of Marketing for Kavalan, comments: “It is Kavalan’s aim to revolutionize large and grand format print by making it possible to eliminate environmentally toxic PVC banners and high impact textile materials without compromising on quality, appearance, or performance. This partnership with Media One is a pivotal step for us, opening up access to our materials to large format print businesses across the USA. We are very excited about this partnership and look forward to seeing innovative applications using Kavalan materials appearing all over the USA in 2024 and beyond.”

Kavalan samples are available in the USA from Media One representatives.
