FuturePrint Virtual Conference: Proof Positive in Packaging with CGS Oris and Mutoh

The FuturePrint Virtual Conference, taking place 25th – 26th February, will be showcasing a range of solutions, insight and education from established print giants to cutting-edge newcomers, both of which are blazing the trail for the future of the industry. We caught up with Heiner Muller, Sales Director, Packaging, at print software solutions provider CGS Oris, to find out what the FuturePrint Conference audience might expect from their session.

For a session entitled ‘High End Direct To Substrate Proofing And Prototyping For Packaging’, CGS Oris joins forces with manufacturer Mutoh to discuss the success of their partnership and present an interesting case study with a UK customer, Waldo Ltd. Phil Walmsley, Managing Director, Waldo, says: "Waldo Limited is an independent and privately-owned company located in the heart of Lincolnshire in the market town of Louth. We have a long and outstanding heritage, from producing hand-engraved flexographic plates to the latest technology in digital plate making and we continue to bring the latest innovations to the flexographic printing industry. Waldo Limited is committed to becoming the first choice repro company of the 21st Century."

So why the FuturePrint Virtual Conference as a platform? Heiner Muller explains: “We participated in last October's event and were absolutely pleased with the response from the market. With the absence of actual exhibitions and other events, we did a number of online events and participated in some. The quality and number of participants at the FuturePrint Virtual event was by far the best.”

The two businesses have collaborated to bring a new direct-to-substrate proofing on uncoated packaging media solution to market. Heiner continues: “Proofing and prototyping is an essential part of the production chain in packaging. With the ORIS Flex Pack system, CGS is addressing this segment since almost 10 years. There is, however, a growing demand for direct-to-substrate proofing, i.e. on the real substrates, which are finally used in production.

“Flex Pack in combination with the Mutoh ValueJet 628MP is ideally suited for the task, as the extended gamut multi-purpose inks allow to print on any substrates, including for instance shrink film or uncoated stock, without changing the haptics of the media. We are glad that one of our UK customers has agreed to share his experiences with the participants.”

CGS Oris is certainly an authority on colour management and proofing, and their perspective on the topic is sure to be of huge value to the FuturePrint Virtual Conference audience. “CGS ORIS has constantly introduced innovations to this market segment. The new combination with the Mutoh ValueJet 628MP marks another breakthrough in proofing and prototyping technology,” says Heiner.
