FuturePrint and Pack Summit Speaker Spotlight: Agfa
FuturePrint’s first hybrid event, the FuturePrint and Pack Summit, is taking place on November 11th at The Bradfield Centre, Cambridge, followed by weekly virtual content output. Rita Torfs and Marc Graindourze, Agfa, will be discussing Agfa’s aqueous inkjet solution for printing on to corrugated boards.
Rita and Marc will be in conversation with Frazer Chesterman about the advantages of digital inkjet for corrugated printing, such as the importance of speed to market in the era of on-demand e-commerce, and the reductions in costs and waste that digital provides.
Why water-based inks for corrugated packaging? There are four main examples that Rita and Marc will focus on, the first being recycling, a core element as the percentage of corrugated boxes which are recycled continues to grow. Sustainability is the second, more than simply recycling, waste needs to be managed, energy consumption must be reduced, and greenhouse gas emissions need to be lowered, among other factors.
Thirdly, the safety of food packaging is important in corrugated, even if it’s just a transport box. Last but not least, the requirement of cost efficiency must be met. Rita and Marc will also offer further insight into the ink technology itself during the presentation, and provide more details on how Agfa is approaching the corrugated market.
