A Day at Queen Mary University of London with Archipelago Technology

Yesterday was a good day! It was an inspiring and refreshing day spent away from our desks, surrounded by eager, young minds at QMUL. The vibrant university campus was buzzing with the feeling of innovation and teamwork, thanks also to the Industrial Liaison Forum 2024 - School of Engineering & Materials Science taking place in The Octagon.

Archipelago Technology, a company based in Cambridge, UK, has one of the most highly experienced teams working in inkjet printing today. One of Archipelago’s goals is to refresh this lineup regularly, by attracting new talent into the team. And they really seem to be going about it the right way!  Postgraduate interns have been instrumental in bringing fresh perspectives and energy to the company's projects and these young minds, armed with their latest academic knowledge and an instinctive drive for innovation, have helped Archipelago challenge conventional thinking and explore new perspectives.

That is why we, here at FuturePrint TV, were thrilled when Guy Newcombe, CEO of Archipelago, asked us to conduct some interviews with past and present interns at the QMUL campus during the forum yesterday and help find out how working with Archipelago has affected these young people’s lives in such a positive way. In essence all four candidates we interviewed said, that their time spent with Archipelago has added to their professional development, boosted their confidence in the workplace and instilled a sense of value and pride. One standout comment from a candidate was that ‘working with Archipelago feels like being part of a family’.

We are incredibly impressed by this symbiotic approach: through opportunities such as ‘A Year in Industry’, Internships and Summer/Winter Projects, Archipelago is increasing the company’s innovative capacity but also supporting the academic community in preparing students for real-world challenges and opportunities. Archipelago – we salute you!

Contact Archipelago if you would like to discuss any opportunities within their company.
