42 Technology announces move to larger, purpose-built site at Cambourne Park

42 Technology (42T) is advancing into the next phase of its growth with a move to a new, fully customised 17,200-square-foot building at Cambourne Park Science & Technology Campus later this year. The relocation will almost double the company’s current space, allowing it to continue expanding its in-house teams, investing in additional specialist engineering equipment, and accommodating larger, more complex client projects.

Jon Spratley, CEO of 42 Technology said: “Moving our offices from St Ives to Cambourne Park is a major investment in our future and starts an exciting new chapter for the company. Our new state-of-the-art facilities will immediately give us more space for ongoing growth and development of our business on all fronts, as well as the flexibility for further expansion on-site when we need it. 42 Technology will also now be part of a thriving innovation hub that could lead to some exciting new partnerships for us and our clients.”

Cambourne Park is one of the most well-connected life science and technology clusters in the Cambridge area. The 50-acre campus is located nine miles from the city, set in a picturesque parkland and is part of the world-renowned Cambridge innovation ecosystem. 42T will be working alongside more than 40 leading companies at the campus who are driving innovation in key sectors for the UK economy.

42T’s new building has been designed to optimise its research, development and client collaborations, while providing the perfect work environment to inspire creativity and innovation. The ground floor features a reception area, multiple meeting rooms and fully-equipped electronics laboratories, food-grade and biolabs. It also includes a dedicated product usability and testing suite, a darkroom and a large mechanical lab with a workshop and purpose-built zones equipped with the latest metrology and prototyping equipment to accelerate new product developments.

The first floor has an open-plan layout with staff workstations, multiple additional meeting rooms and phone booths, and a large, versatile space called The Hub. This space has been designed primarily as a breakout zone with a café and lounge area with sofas and chairs, but it can be quickly reconfigured into a large-scale meeting room for company-wide gatherings or other events.

42T’s new offices are being designed and fitted out by Area, a London-based office design consultancy known for its award-winning environmental initiatives and cutting-edge workplace designs. The modern, purpose-built space is being configured to provide an inspiring environment to help teams work together more easily when creating and developing new technologies and products for clients.

The expanded facilities will allow 42T to accommodate larger, more complex development projects entirely in-house, such as the design of new production equipment and other manufacturing innovations that previously required off-site facilities. It also means the company can now host all its innovation workshops, focus groups, and other large-scale client meetings on-site to help ensure even closer and more efficient collaborations and team working.
