Sun Chemical join FuturePrint TECH: Digital Inks Business Experience Transforms Approach

FuturePrint TECH 8-9 November in Cambridge is packed with leaders and innovators and we are delighted to once again gain the participation of Sun Chemical, a world leader in the innovation and manufacture of inkjet inks for a variety of exciting applications.

Simon Daplyn will be giving a talk at FuturePrint TECH entitled, ‘Exploring the Manufacturing Challenges for Direct Food Contact Inks’

Sun Chemical, a member of the DIC Group, is a leading producer of packaging and graphic solutions, color and display technologies, functional products, electronic materials, and products for the automotive and healthcare industries.  Within its digital inks business Sun Chemical has several routes to market and has been providing OEMs, distributors and direct customers with high quality, innovative and value-adding digital inks for more than 30 years.  Application areas include packaging & label, textiles, graphics, security, and industrial print.  Joining the FuturePrint TECH event highlights Sun Chemical’s commitment to collaborating and pushing digital print into new and emerging markets by supporting and advancing more established uses of digital print for manufacturing.

Sun Chemical’s foundational portfolio is focused on offering:

  • Best in class quality.

  • Robust portfolio that meets current and future regulatory requirements.

  • Advanced product offerings for digital inks – based on years of experience across different inkjet formulations, and amount of inkjet ink supplied each year.

  • Global supply and support with production sites around the world - US, Europe, China, and Japan.

As markets evolve to support faster, more economical, and environmentally responsible output, Sun Chemical continues to innovate and adapt to meet the latest and future market needs.  For example, the growing focus on our UVLED means Sun Chemical’s formulation experience enables high quality inkjet inks to be developed that meet the exacting needs of our partners, whether that be a focus on Low Migration, regulatory compliance, or specific end-use requirements such as adhesion to new materials.  This is supported with access to the latest printhead technology to ensure developed inks are chemically compatible and perform reliably in the print head architecture and specification needs of the printhead used by partners.

Recently, there has been a high focus from a range of markets to adopt aqueous ink technology.  In response, Sun Chemical has made game-changing advances with the challenges of faster drying inks, balanced with significant improvements in open time to provide reliable printing whilst meeting the demands of industrial production.  New aqueous technology has been borne out of internal research and development, resulting in unique and patented formulations, combining new resins and new dispersion technologies.

Sun Chemical Aqueous technology is being used in our next generation of Label, Flexible Packaging, and other Packaging market developments - such as textiles, graphics, and decor.

Sun Chemical has a rich heritage in analogue printing, the digital business can benefit from available products and developments of primers, barrier coating and overprint varnishes to add to the application requirements and provide flexibility in production environments.  Sun Chemical works in close partnerships with equipment manufacturers and customers to ensure the knowledge is harnessed throughout the organization to meet their specific needs.

Together with DIC, Sun Chemical is continuously working to promote and develop sustainable solutions to exceed customer expectations and better the world around us.
