Labelled for Success with Sihl’s Sustainable Solutions
Many companies have had to adapt fast to the changing work environment and market demands of the post-pandemic world. Even accounting for this significant disruption, industries are ever evolving, and companies are looking for the most efficient, cost-effective, and flexible solutions. However, recently one particular factor became so crucial that it not only makes a business stand out but it also has changed the company's culture, leaving a significant footprint in the company’s future.
That factor of course is sustainability. It is positive to see that the labelling industry is moving in that direction with specialists like Sihl, providing innovative solutions with its premium and sustainable coating materials.
David Radtke, Head of Group Marketing at Sihl, comments that “Sustainability is a key element of Sihl’s corporate strategy and an important factor in our success.”
Sustainable labelling
Traditionally in the logistics sector, the process of pallet transportation requires them to be wrapped in stretch film and then labelled. The film produces waste, which then needs to be managed and the labels tend to leave a residue from the adhesive material on items it's been placed on.
Sihl came up with a solution to this issue in the form of PRESSURETAC, an eco-friendly, linerless label material. That label material is then attached to a reusable pallet strap, a safe and eco-friendly substitute to stretch-film.
PRESSURETAC uses cold sealing technology with high-cohesion adhesive. Once folded back to back, the high cohesion creates permanent adhesion. This eliminates the use of silicone paper used with traditional methods, reducing production time as well as waste.
It’s easily removable and leaves no trace on the pallets, making it more economical as cleaning of the cages, straps, and trolleys is no longer required. The labelling material is recyclable and has FSC certification, clearly demonstrating Sihl’s commitment to sustainable materials. Use of the material also benefits from storage and transport savings on cost and carbon emissions as it is compact and lightweight.
Strong partnership
The combined expertise and long-term partnership between Sihl’s labelling material and Logopak’s labelling system enables businesses to make a real difference in their labelling process.
“The Logomatic 920 PSCK labelling system, a labelling solution for pallet straps from Logopak, in combination with high-quality linerless label material from the Sihl Group, make up a complete system solution,” comments Patrick Petersen-Lund, Business Unit Manager at Logopak.
Wide-ranging applications
The linerless material has achieved success in the returnable beverage industry, but it can also be used in a range of markets in which boxes or cases are used for the transport of goods.
With Sihl’s near century-long presence in the industry and continuous research and development, it has significant potential to help many businesses become more cost effective, productive, and most of all sustainable in their processes.
