Digital corrugated printing is here to stay!

We were really pleased to have an excellent Webinar delivered by Eviatar Halevi, Director for Business Development for Corrugated, HP PageWide Industrial.

We now talk to Eviatar, so he can explain more about HP’s view of Digital Print for Corrugated.

Here is what he had to say…

When considering adoption of a digital printing, the converters are expecting an industrial solution that addresses a wide range of applications and economical in the sense that it can help them convert the work type that they are used to do for their existing customers and potentially leave them with higher margins. They also expect to be able to offer services that they were not able to deliver before – variations, JIT delivery and more. But not less importantly, they want the digital vendor to help them adopt to the digital solution.

At HP we take these converters needs seriously. With a wide range of tools that include both post and pre print solutions and across our installed fleet of presses we were able to deliver over 150 million of printed square meters in 2019. Jobs are mostly high graphic jobs that cover coated, uncoated and brown liners, all produced at litho level quality. A substantial part of the jobs done today consist of over 10K sheets. The jobs that are daily produced on the HP PageWide fleet of presses are spanning all over digital value pillars. Customers enjoy lower production costs, higher supply chain efficiencies and also deliver jobs that they were not able to deliver before, using the uniqueness of digital production environment.

But above all, our customers simply love working with HP. We train them, we help them engage with brands, we support them with advanced and sophisticated tools and we feed them operational data that helps them get better in what they do with the digital equipment.
Digital is definitely here, and our customers use our presses to gorw their business. Recently, two of PageWide customers announce their purchase of additional corrugated press by HP: LIC Packaging in Italy, owns already a C500 press, announced his purchase of a T1190 press. The BoxMaker in Seattle, WA announced his purchase of a second C500 to his fleet. A true vote of confidence is HP’s technology, service and partnership.
HP PageWide press portfolio

The HP PageWide T1100 Series web-press for pre-printing top liners is a six-color, single-pass, high-performance printing. The presses run liners up to 110” (2.8m) wide and are ideal for packaging converters seeking analog-to-digital transformation with high-volume productivity. The presses deliver corrugator-level efficiency and can maximize business opportunities for a wide range of corrugated applications.

With the HP’s innovative Multi-lane Print Architecture (MLPA), converters can boost productivity by optimizing the layouts. HP MLPA splits the web into multiple print lanes, so different jobs with different box sizes and run lengths can be printed in the individual lanes.

The new 6-color T470S web press, with the addition of Orange and Violet inks, can deliver outstanding print quality while achieving a greater number of brand colors. With a 42” print width, the press is ideal for roll-to-roll packaging applications, and its 600 feet-per-minute print speed ensures excellent productivity and throughput.

The HP PageWide C500 Press is a digital post-print solution that enables corrugated converters to reduce the cost of manufacturing boxes in scaled volume production. It provides offset print quality for a wide range of corrugated packaging applications on both coated and uncoated paper, with water-based inks, for low to high number of sheets. The C500 press brings benefits of digital printing, with no limitation of Minimum-Order-Quantity (MOQ), flexibility, accelerated time to market, and reduction of waste and inventory with no need to compromise on print quality.
