Episode 162 - Creating a Future for AI in Decor, With Royce Dodds, Dekor8

In this episode, Marcus talks with Royce Dodds from Dekor8. Although we have known one another for a while, we reconnected at the Seiko Open Week back in the summer '23 and I discovered more about the fascinating work that Royce is doing with AI for Decor and Design. Royce delivered a very interesting talk at FuturePrint TECH in Cambridge Nov '23, why not view it here?

Following that he joined a webinar I hosted on Dec 19, again, why not view that here?

Anyway, now to the podcast! Royce is a respected expert in decor and for sure a pioneer, innovator and connector. He has an interesting mind and a passionate enthusiasm for the work he does. While talks at events are great, the long-form nature of a podcast permits more time and scope for a deeper and broader chat, and I thoroughly enjoyed the conversation!

More about Royce

Royce graduated with a BA(Hons) in Interactive Art.

He worked on Print on Demand in 1998 and helped take a company’s print jobs from Analogue to Digital, with an IBM Print system. He later worked for Decopress, a small daughter company from Kronospan, where we started the first Samples in Digital, and then printed Analogue.

He then worked at Egger in various roles, but helped them on their way with Digital Print, on Paper, Cork Boards for Flooring, Plastics for Furniture Edging, and Paper for laminates. Very keen on workflow and supporting the people in Production. Helped introduce the ICMS machines into the workflow for colour consistency. Over the past few years, he has been very interested in Ai, and supporting the people creating the designs for future work.
