Tech Fest Preview: Innovative Glass Printing with Marabu and Koenig & Bauer
The FuturePrint Tech Fest is a celebration of print technology taking place on the 29th-30th June 2021, where experts will provide updates on new technological developments, innovations and stories of how the print technology community is bringing to life new ideas that create new possibilities. Ahead of the session, we look at the key collaboration between Marabu and Koenig & Bauer, and the innovative glass printing technology they have developed.
The megatrend of personalisation will only continue to grow, and it’s no surprise that interest in digital printing on glass is an innovation area of interest. Though a complex process, a collaboration between ink manufacturer Marabu and manufacturer Koenig & Bauer has led to incredible design and decoration possibilities with inkjet. As the only contactless printing method, inkjet allows for convex and concave geometries to be printed, offering excellent contour sharpness and outstanding visual and haptic decoration.
This session will also offer insight into a digital ink that has been specially developed for the digital decoration of haptic glass structural effects, and will touch on why the collaboration is key to the innovative development, how sustainability fits into the equation, and what this technology means for the future of design freedom for hollow ware objects.
