On October 12th, the FuturePrint Virtual Summit will begin with a full day focused on “Young Guns in Print.” It will feature the young leaders and entrepreneurs of print and packaging with important discussions on how to support, encourage and empower young people in the industry. Memjet is a proud Content Partner of the FuturePrint Summits, following a successful inaugural event in June.

Why is it so important to have young people in the packaging and labels space? For starters, there are huge opportunities within growing packaging trends among young consumers – and who better to capture their attention than their peers? Gen Z has an estimated buying power of up to $143 billion in the US alone and is expected to be the largest consumer group by 2026 according to Statista Dimensional Research.

One major trend that continues to appeal to young consumers is personalisation. They want tailored, intentional interactions with products and brands – that means high-quality personalised gifts, labels, boxing, and a whole lot more. With so much digital overload, a tactile and unique piece of packaging can cut through the noise to make a consumer feel special and provide a memorable experience.

The ability to produce short-run, fast, efficient and high-quality print products, thanks to technology like Memjet’s single-pass inkjet printheads, is what makes this lasting trend a reality. For young people that are considering careers in the print industry or those that are taking their first step on the job ladder, showing that print can be fast-paced, creative, and innovative is key to attracting and retaining the right people. The healthy packaging and labels market is a great place to start as the applications are already familiar to this group.

Memjet will also take part in sessions on October 15th (day 4th of the Summit), alongside their OEM partners Colordyne and Kao Collins, to discuss “How to Grow your Packaging & Labels Business” Powered By Memjet.
