FuturePrint and Pack Summit Speaker Spotlight: Siegwerk

FuturePrint’s first hybrid event, the FuturePrint and Pack Summit, is taking place on November 11th at The Bradfield Centre, Cambridge, followed by weekly virtual content output. FuturePrint partner Siegwerk will be outlining the potential and prospects of water-based inks in the packaging market.

Inkjet has the potential to master the balancing act between market trends and economically sensible implementation for specific applications, but behind the scenes - not visible to the end user - it takes more than just putting ink on a machine and starting to print. It rather is a cross-disciplinary technology uniting different variables from mechanical engineering and electronics through printheads integration and driving software to ink chemistry and drying technology. Every inkjet application needs a complete solution with all components harmonized and targeted to the individual application needs.

Dr Thomas Lehnen, Siegwerk

This essential compatibility between inks, ink supply, printhead, machinery (e.g. web handling) and software is key for the successful development and adoption of an inkjet printing solution for a specific application, making cross-disciplinary collaboration to the most essential success factor.

Speculative development of single variables does not enable unlocking the potential of inkjet for several applications as a collaborative development approach could. Thus, striking up strategic partnerships along the supply chain could help to develop innovative solutions for new applications.

Especially migration from analogue to inkjet printing can be a transition from known to unknown territory. But no matter if you are already experienced in inkjet or do your first moves in the world digital printing, DJM and Siegwerk are well positioned to guide partners and create the building blocks for a successful implementation of inkjet printing in your value chain. We are working for our clients by working with our clients.
