For a Sustainable Future: New ESG Manager for SIHL Group

On August 1, 2021, Stephan Schmitz, Head of Purchasing at Sihl GmbH, will fill the newly created position of ESG Director for the Sihl Group in addition to his existing responsibilities. “Environmental Social Governance“ (ESG) stands for a companies’ social responsibility in terms of conducting sustainable business. For Sihl, this includes the reduction of environmental pollution and greenhouse gas emissions, the focus on sustainable energy sources and on recycable materials and products, as well as occupational safety and health for our employees, social commitment and corporate governance.

“For us, the protection of our environment and the health of our employees are important components of our success and the guideline. As a company, we are striving to achieve an ESG rating by the beginning of 2022, which clearly documents that we are seriously addressing this issue. For this reason, we have created the new position of the ESG Director for the Sihl Group, which Stephan Schmitz will take over from August“, explains Peter K. Wahsner, CEO of the Sihl Group.

“The aim of this function will be to further develop the ESG strategy of our company, to make it more concrete and to implement it throughout the entire Sihl Group. This is another important step in our efforts to become a sustainable company“, Stephan Schmitz says, describing his new role.
